Combined Events Championships 14/15 March 2015

It was the end of the Winter in-door athletics season today, at least as regards major comps within the glorious Glasgow Emirates Arena. After last week's Davis Cup tennis this w/e it was the turn of the Masters Multi-Eventers, with admittedly a few less spectators, as the men competed in the 7 events of the Heptathlon.

Congratulations to winner (ex World Champ) Brian Slaughter who made the long journey up North, again, and made his trip worthwhile by racking up a seriously good score - see Scottish Athletics web site for final points scores.

In Silver medal position & best home based Scot was Ron Todd, competing in his 1st multi-events comp for a long long time, Ron made a great impression - unfortunately with his head against the HJ upright, great début Ron I am sure the dent will out last your pain.
Gaining the bronze medal , thanks in part to a lifetime pb in the high jump, was the youthful Ian Paget, back from injury. Ian's even set of marks bodes well for the out-door season.

Whilst the guys now set off to prepare for the out-door season, in particular the World Masters Decathlon Champs this August in Lyon, lets hope we can see a few of the ladies turn their hands to multi-events this summer.
