BRITISH and IRISH MASTERS CROSS COUNTRY INTERNATIONAL
12 NOVEMBER 2016
The Scottish Veteran Harriers Club is hosting the 2016 Home International Competition on 12th November 2016. The series of races for Masters athletes in 5-year age group bandings from 35 up to 75 will take place over either three or four laps of a 2k route around Tollcross Park in Glasgow.
Male and female teams will compete at a high level and during the evening, following the series of races, there will be an annual dinner and presentation of awards in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Glasgow's waterfront.
The event goes ahead with the support of the Glasgow Marketing Bureau, Glasgow City Council and Awards for All.
We have arranged competitive accommodation rates on a first come, first served basis at a selection of hotels in the vicinity of Glasgow's Exhibition Centre and Hydro Concert Centre. These are: -
Crowne Plaza, Congress Road G3 8QT
Hilton Garden Inn, Finnieston Quay G3 8HN
Premier Inn, Pacific Quay G51 1DZ
Hallmark 27 Washington Street G3 8AZ
The Village, Pacific Quay G51 1DA
Ibis, 220 West Regent Street, G2 4DQ
Athletes booking these hotels should use the link http://peoplemakeglasgow.com/xcountry to take advantage of negotiated rates.
There will be a courtesy bus running on a revolving basis from the Crowne Plaza to Tollcross Park and back on race day from 9.30 am.
The hotels in this part of Glasgow have the advantage of immediate access to the Clyde Walkway, which allows for any amount of traffic-free mileage for post-race legs to the super-keen, or over-addicted.
In addition to the earmarked hotels, there is a wide range of other accommodation in the city ranging from budget hostels to city centre boutique hotels for those who want to venture a bit further off from the race HQ. A good option for those wanting to do a bit of independent travelling is to download the Traveline Scotland App – https://trafficscotland.org - which is an absolute boon for making the best use of public transport links
Entries and Results
In addition to the Home International Races there will be male and female Open Races of 8k and 6k respectively, on the same day with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
