COMMITTEE MEETING - 06/05/2020

What happened?

We managed the technology.

We agreed that, in keeping with Government and SA advice, there would be no more Club races before August at the very earliest.

We have a volunteer to take on (at least on a temporary basis) the Editor's role for the Club Newsletter from Colin Youngson. Paul Thompson will be doing that - many thanks.

The Race Series for this year has been cancelled; it's too hard to see how and when it could be finished. 2021 seems like a likely re-start, but watch this space.

We had a discussion on the Club's financial position, which is healthy. We'll revisit this, but if we end up at the completion of the financial year (31st August) with a decent surplus, which we should, then there might be a case for next year's fees due from 01/11/2020 to be waived. The difficulty with this is that all those (most of us) with standing orders would have to change/suspend them. That could be a bit of a palaver mind you, so if anyone has other ideas, give me (Andy Law) a shout.

John Bell has emailed his Irish counterpart about this year's planned Cross Country event in Dublin, so we can find out if it will be proceeding or not. That will impact travel plans/trials and our organisation of the following year's fixture, which had been bound for Scotland. As soon as we know we'll put something on here and the Club's website.

We had planned for a 50th anniversary race to mark the Club's founding and had thought to make either a weekend or a night of it. That had been something we had hoped to have in August and had been seeking to get permission from Forestry Scotland for use of the forest trails at Ardgartan for an uphill and downhill race there. That's spiked for now, but maybe later in the year???

We'll meet up again as a Committee, probably in July and probably still virtually, although who knows how things will go?

Finally, we'd recommend to Club Members that if they want a 5k event to replace the SVHC Road Race in Clydebank previously in the diary for 24th June that they take part in the BMAF Virtual 5k Relays - link below. The organisers have said they will be able to list Scottish individual entries post the event as well as showing first claim clubs. https://data.opentrack.run/x/2020/GBR/bmaf-virtual-rr/
