NEILSON HARE

NEILSON HARE

It was with deep & sincere regret that Law & District members learned of the death of Neilson Hare on Wednesday 21st October 2020 aged 81.

Before joining our club he was an active member of the running fraternity competing for Monkland Harriers & the Scottish Police Service.

On moving to Carluke he joined the club in the mid 1970,s and became a keen and well known member, where he enjoyed competing in numerous Road & Cross-country events throughout the country. His interest & welfare in the club was shown when he was elected on to the club committee where he fulfilled his role as club treasurer for a number of years.
As well as being a member of Law & District AAC he also found the time & energy to join the Scottish Veterans Harriers Club and held various positions within the organisation eventually becoming their President.

During the mid 1990’s ill health reasons forced him to give up competitive running. However, his determination was shown that even whilst undergoing intensive chemo therapy session’s it did not deter him from going out on his daily run which he continued to do so up until a few months ago.

Being a truly dedicated club member he sought no reward or recognition but did obtain considerable satisfaction & pleasure which running gave him.

To Neilson’s widow Lillian & to his daughter Sonya ; son-in-law Graham; grand-children Jennifer, Callum & Rebecca the club would like to extend their deepest sympathy and sorry for their loss.
