Scottish Team Selection

Individual age group teams will be selected through a 50/50 mix of Trial results & previous performances/current known form.  Team members will require to be current members of the SVHC.  The final team selection will be done after considering performances in the Selection Trial at Tollcross Park, Glasgow which will take place on Saturday 14th September starting around 11:00am. Entries for this on the day & keep an eye on the website/Facebook page for final details. If Club Members are unable to make the trial day, but do want to be considered for selection, they should make that known to either Ada or John for their respective teams.

Club Support for Team Members

The Club will provide a travel subsidy of £50 per athlete.  New team members receive a complimentary Scotland vest & pair of shorts.

Southport is comparatively straightforward for many in Scotland, particularly compared to last year’s venue in Swansea. It is, however, still quite a trek to reach for those of us living beyond the Central Belt or the Borders & we have already made a provisional bus hire from Glasgow for team members. The bus will leave just after rush-hour & will also stop at Bothwell Services & Carlisle on the way down the road. It will return to Scotland on Sunday 17th, leaving just after breakfast. The cost of the bus will be shared between those booking a seat. If last year’s is anything to go by it should be less than the travel subsidy, with change left to buy a couple of mugs of over-priced motorway service station coffees.

Please advise Andy Law ( or tel. 07920 005485) as to how many seats are required on the bus – first come, first served.

We have provisionally booked 55 rooms at the Southport Central Premier Inn, Marine Drive, PR8 1RY.  This should be central for the evening event and room rates are likely to come in slightly less expensive than last year’s in Swansea.  The nightly rates for bed and breakfast will be around £76 for a double or twin room and £66.50 for a single.  This will be payable to SVHC in advance – again contact Andy Law for reservations.  There are other hotels available in Swansea and when we have final word from the organisers we’ll update this.

For those coming on the bus there will be travel arranged from the hotel to the race and back afterwards.  For the evening event, if as currently planned, the Floral Hall in Southport is used, then that is in easy walking distance.
